In this post we going to show you two unusual Sebo wide track commercial vacuum cleaners that are sadly now unavailable in the UK (EU), but that we currently have some brand-new models in stock of.
Before you read further: These are all 46cm wide commercial machines.
As many readers will know, in September 2017 the EU, in their wisdom, foisted upon the UK a rule that all vacuum cleaners must not exceed 900w in power.
Here is one of several pieces that the BBC did in our shop on the subject featuring our Sebo vacuums.
This EU shortsighted rule-making unfortunately did not exempt commercial vacuum cleaners (where one might need extra oomph), and so the rules also apply to them.
Like other manufacturers, Sebo had to modify and re-engineer their entire range to take 900w motors.
They managed quite admirably, and the current range of cleaners haven’t noticeably suffered any performance deficiencies due to their innovative redesign. So if you buy a current model machine, don’t be afraid it will be wheezy and useless – it won’t. Manufacturers are screwing every last bit of suction out of their allotted 900w, and Sebo have legendary German engineers and designers.
However, some people (and Brexiteers especially) if they can get their hands on them, prefer to have one of the pre-EU ‘vacuum ban’ machines that are seen as more powerful. These machines are typically 1100w or 1300w.
As 1100w+ Sebo vacuum cleaners began to run out everywhere at the end of 2017, they went up to over £500 on sites such as Amazon and eBay as people scrambled for the final stocks of higher wattage vacuums.
But we have some. And some commercial ones at that! And they are not £500.
Here is such a machine: the Sebo 470
A rare machine in the UK and more commonly seen in Australia and New Zealand, the Sebo 470 is the equivalent of the old BS46; now replaced by the BS460.
We currently have a quantity of these “Big Daddy” machines available that we have come by that are end-of-line stock, and the last new ones we will ever see.

Another machine you do not see very often is this: the Sebo XP3
The XP3 is an Automatic X machine based loosely around the old much-loved X1, X4 and X5, but it has a much wider 45 -46 cm head on there, so it’s actually re-engineered to be a wide track commercial vacuum cleaner whilst retaining the durable finish much loved about early Sebo vacuums.
People with very large houses buy these too. Some call these the “mansion vacuum cleaner”. The XP1, XP2 to and XP3 models of Sebo have now been replaced by the XP10, XP 20 and XP30 with the reduced motor wattage in accordance with the EU rules.
We have a quantity of the higher wattage pre EU ban XP3 commercial vacuums available, which also are end-of-line models and the last we are ever likely to see.
