Is It Worth Repairing an Old Sebo Vacuum Cleaner?

The answer to that would usually be yes. And there’s several reasons why that is the case.

Your old Sebo Automatic X1, X1.1 or X4 is a quality German vacuum cleaner. They’re designed in such a way that they can be repaired by a competent engineer. Unlike most other brands of vacuum, with a Sebo, there is no built-in obsolescence. There are no “sealed units” and hardly any unavailable parts, even for Sebos dating from the 1980s and 1990s. We have all Sebo spare parts in stock. There’s nothing wrong with your Sebo that our engineers haven’t seen before.

There’s another reason you might want to have your Sebo repaired rather than replace it.

In 2017 the EU forced upon us a maximum wattage limit of 900w for all new vacuum cleaners. Despite the UK leaving the EU, the government has no intention of rescinding that rule. BBC Breakfast did a feature on those rules in our premises with our Sebos which you can watch here.

Your older Sebo is likely to be 1100w or 1300w. More powerful than any new vacuum you can buy today. So yes, it’s worth fixing your old Sebo if you like the cleaning power it has.

How To Get Your Sebo Repaired by Us in Sale & Brooklands

For Sebo repairs in Sale and Brooklands, simply bring it down. There’s no booking in or telephoning ahead necessary. Opening times, directions and anything else you might need to know before you come is >>here on our ‘find us’ page<<.

It costs nothing for us to diagnose your machine. We’ll have a quick look at it and either quote you on the spot or call you the next day with the diagnosis. If you decide to go ahead, it will be fixed within a couple of days, we’ll send you a text message when it’s ready, and you pay when you pick it up. We never carry any work out without your permission so there are no nasty surprises when you collect it.

What About Sebo Repairs in the Home?

We don’t like that business model and here’s why: a random stranger taking your Sebo to bits all over your sitting room floor carpet is not ideal. Is he likely to have any and all of the spare parts he might need in his van? Highly unlikely. What if your Sebo is in pieces all over the floor and he starts that sharp intake of breath through the teeth thing? That’s usually a harbinger of a very large bill, isn’t it? And you’re a captive now with your machine in bits and a man on your sofa drinking your tea.

On our free advice forums, there are several horror stories about vacuum cleaner repairs in the home. Caveat Emptor.

It’s always better to bring your Sebo to us, we’ll soon have it working like new again.
