This guide will walk you through the exact faults to look for and how to fix them. Most people assume it&#8217;s the fuse or the power switch, but it very rarely is. To test for this:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Plug the vacuum in and switch it on.<\/li>\n<li>Gently move the cable near the entry point \u2014 left, right, up and down and twist each way.<\/li>\n<li>If the machine suddenly springs to life, even for a second, the flex is damaged.<\/li>\n<li>If the <a href=\"https:\/\/seboshop.co.uk\/sebo-spare-parts\/sebo-xp-spares\/cable-entry-grommet-x1-x4-x5-x7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cable entry grommet<\/a> is damaged, it&#8217;s a fair bet the cable is too.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>It\u2019s less likely but still possible for the plug end to be at fault. Move the cable near the plug in the same way and watch for any sign of power.<\/p>\n<p>If there\u2019s any flicker of life, you\u2019ve found your problem. You can either shorten and rewire the cable or simply replace it. If it slides out without releasing the locking clip, the body housing is worn and needs replacing. It\u2019s not the clip itself, so don\u2019t waste time looking for just that part. It may test fine with a meter but fail under load. If in doubt, replace the loom \u2014 we supply this part and use it regularly in our own workshop.<\/p>\n<h3>Swivel Neck Power Loss \u2013 Burnt Pins or Damaged Loom<\/h3>\n<p>Inside the swivel neck, there\u2019s another short loom with two brass prongs you&#8217;ll see sticking up. These link the upper and lower sections of the machine. Over time, movement can cause the pins to burn or degrade.<\/p>\n<p>To test:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Remove and inspect the loom. Any sign of burning on those prongs means it needs replacing.<\/li>\n<li>Flex the wires while watching a meter for fluctuations.<\/li>\n<li>If you\u2019re confident, apply power directly to the pins using a test lead. If the machine runs, you\u2019ve narrowed it down and confirmed the motor and main PCB are fine.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This swivel neck loom is a common failure point.
