We&#8217;ll show you how to get to the bottom of it and what you need to fix it.<\/p>\n<p>So the machine is telling you it needs a new bag <em>(the red bag light is on)<\/em>, but you have changed the bag, and it&#8217;s still doing it.<\/p>\n<p>Before we delve in, we need to make sure the machine isn&#8217;t blocked. You&#8217;d be surprised how many are. So there are two possibilities:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The main PCB is faulty<\/li>\n<li>The main PCB needs adjusting or resetting<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>At this point, you need to remove the hood to establish which PCB is fitted to your machine, because that determines how you will fix it.<\/p>\n<p>To remove the hood, undo the four screws in the recessed holes underneath using a Philips screwdriver.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"thumb_332750\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"How to Reset the Bag Full Light on a Sebo X1 or an X4\" src=\"https:\/\/manchestervacs.co.uk\/DysonForum\/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=4460.0;attach=33275;image\" alt=\"Sebo bag light reset\" width=\"495\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Recline the neck.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"thumb_332771\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"How to Reset the Bag Full Light on a Sebo X1 or an X4\" src=\"https:\/\/manchestervacs.co.uk\/DysonForum\/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=4460.0;attach=33277;image\" alt=\"How to Reset the Bag Full Light on a Sebo X1 or an X4\" width=\"495\" height=\"640\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now the top comes off. Look at the PCB; there are two types.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"thumb_332834\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"How to Reset the Bag Full Light on a Sebo X1 or an X4\" src=\"https:\/\/manchestervacs.co.uk\/DysonForum\/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=4460.0;attach=33283;image\" alt=\"How to Reset the Bag Full Light on a Sebo X1 or an X4\" width=\"495\" height=\"640\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If yours is marked <strong>NPPSTXSM-2<\/strong> and\/or (<strong>5740<\/strong>) like the one above, or has <strong>94VO<\/strong>\u00a0on one side and\u00a0<strong>5196-F\u00a0<\/strong>or<strong>\u00a0TE3493<\/strong>\u00a0(<strong>Stein and Co<\/strong>) on the underside, read instead <a href=\"https:\/\/seboshop.co.uk\/blog\/how-to-fix-bag-full-light-sebo-x1-x4\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>&gt;&gt;this article&lt;&lt;<\/strong><\/a>. You can usually turn that light off quite easily in a few minutes, with a screwdriver.<\/p>\n<p>However, if your machine is fitted with this PCB:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2321 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/seboshop.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/board3-500x500-1.jpg\" alt=\"How to Fix a Sebo X4 Vacuum Red Bag Light PCB Fault\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/seboshop.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/board3-500x500-1.jpg 500w, https:\/\/seboshop.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/board3-500x500-1-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>That one is marked <strong>5849ER<\/strong> and <strong>NPPSTXSNM-3<\/strong>. That board is usually fitted to all 1100w Eco and Boost models.<\/p>\n<p>If your machine has that board, and the bag light is on when the bag isn&#8217;t full, or the machine isn&#8217;t blocked, you have four options:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A new board<\/li>\n<li>A new pair of boards <em>(see below as to why)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Have your old board reset<\/li>\n<li>Replace both PCBs with the earlier type <em>(as long as it is not a Boost model &#8211;\u00a0 on Boost models, you must replace like with like).<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Which is better? Any option will work; it depends on how fast you need it, how much you want to spend, and which you prefer.<\/p>\n<p>If you want a new board, you can find that <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/seboshop.co.uk\/sebo-spare-parts\/sebo-x5-spares\/sebo-nppstxsnm-3-main-pcb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&gt;&gt;here&lt;&lt;<\/a><\/strong>. Some people prefer to change both boards together, either because they&#8217;re uncertain which one is faulty, or because they reason that since the boards are the same age, the other may fail soon. Buying a new pair isn&#8217;t much more expensive than buying one, and you can find those <a href=\"https:\/\/seboshop.co.uk\/sebo-spare-parts\/sebo-x5-spares\/sebo-x4x5-pcb-pair-5850er-5847er-5849er\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>&gt;&gt;here&lt;&lt;<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As long as your machine <strong>doesn&#8217;t<\/strong> have a Boost button <em>(It&#8217;s mostly the 1100w X4 black Pet Eco that does)<\/em>, you can also choose to fit an older, recycled pair of boards, which you will find <a href=\"https:\/\/seboshop.co.uk\/sebo-spare-parts\/sebo-x5-spares\/sebo-x-series-boards-pair\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>&gt;&gt;here&lt;&lt;<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Or, there is a cheaper option: If you can do without your machine for a few days, you can send us your old board <em>(please don&#8217;t use Yodel or Evri)<\/em>, and we will reset it in our workshop and mail it right back to you. That costs \u00a330 including return postage. And make sure it&#8217;s legible, please!<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ll reset it and send it right back. In the unlikely event it won&#8217;t reset, we&#8217;ll call you and advise on the best and most economical option depending on current stock and your machine&#8217;s exact model. We might have a good used board handy or offer you alternative boards. Either way, we&#8217;ll soon get your Sebo up and running again.
