Is It Worth Repairing an Old Sebo Vacuum Cleaner?
The answer to that would usually be a resounding yes. And here’s why:
First, it’s green to repair. Over our lifetime each one of us throws away over three tonnes of old electrical products. To preserve our environment we need to look at ways of becoming more sustainable. Repairing your Sebo with us is green; it reduces the amount of end-of-life electrical appliances going into landfills.
Your old Sebo Automatic X or Felix is a quality German-made vacuum. Sebos are designed in such a way that they can be repaired by a competent vacuum engineer. Unlike most other brands of vacuum (Vax and Shark especially), with a Sebo, there is no built-in obsolescence. There are almost no unavailable parts, even for Sebos dating from the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s. We have all Sebo spare parts in stock. There’s nothing wrong with your Sebo that our engineers haven’t seen before and can’t fix.
There’s another reason you might want to have your Sebo repaired rather than replace it.
In 2017 the EU forced upon us a maximum wattage limit of 900w for all new vacuum cleaners. Despite the UK leaving the EU, the government has no intention of rescinding that rule. BBC Breakfast did a feature on those rules in our shop with our Sebos which you can watch here.
Your older Sebo is likely to be 1100w or 1300w. More powerful than any new vacuum you can buy today. So yes, it’s worth fixing your old Sebo if you like the cleaning power it has.

What About Sebo Repairs at Home?
We don’t think that’s feasible and here’s why: a random guy taking your Sebo to bits all over your lounge floor carpet is not ideal. Is he likely to have any and all of the spare parts he might need in his van? Probably not. What if your Sebo is in bits all over the floor and he starts that sharp intake of breath thing? You know that’s a very large bill coming, don’t you? And you’re now a captive with your vacuum in bits and a man sat drinking your tea.
On our free advice forums, there are several horror stories about vacuum cleaner repairs in the home. Caveat Emptor.
It’s always better to bring your Sebo to us, we’ll soon have it working like new again.
No need to book your Sebo in or telephone ahead. Our opening times, map, directions and everything else you need to know can be found on our >find us page<.
How Much Does a Sebo Repair Cost?
A quote is always free. We have a minimum charge of £20 for small jobs. As an example, a replacement while-you-wait power cord replacement costs £35 all in. Typical labour charges for other repairs are in the region of £35-55 depending on the repair. Any extra parts required would be on top. As Sebo parts specialists, our parts prices are always competitive. We supply the trade with spare parts too.
Buying a New Sebo Vacuum Cleaner
